SELLERS NEED TO WAKE UP OR LOSE OUT
Women Are Now the Biggest Buying Market in North America


Malibu, CA - Sellers need to wake up or lose out. Women now call the shots when spending money. According to Kelly McCormick, an expert on selling to women, from the McCormick Team Inc., “The fastest-growing trend to hit business in the last decade is the phenomenal growth in a woman’s purchasing power.” A staggering 80% of all buying decisions in North America are made by women. McCormick observes, “Sellers who don’t meet a woman’s needs are history.”

Women are spending an estimated $6.1 trillion a year in the US. “Today’s female buyer means business. Her spending power can make or break a company,” cautions McCormick.

The money flowing from women’s wallets has increased revenues in many industries. According to McCormick, “Women lead decision making in such traditionally male categories as investment, automotive, consumer electronics, and home improvement. Most women are also the chief decision makers when it comes to hiring repair people and contractors for the home.”

Independent and home-based business markets have also seen a change in consumers. McCormick says, “Women in both the US and Canada are opening companies at a much faster pace than men. Females now spend more money than they ever have at home and work. In return, women insist that sellers take them seriously.”

McCormick held nothing back when she recently told a group of sellers “the days of simply putting something on sale to make money are over. As retailers, contractors, and suppliers you must avoid using any high-pressure sales tactics. A woman will tune you out. Instead, you need to listen to her needs. She must be assured that you know what she’s looking for. Then you have deliver,” urged McCormick. “The power in a woman’s purse gives her buying choices she didn’t have in the past. Today she looks for a vendor that’s the right fit. Once she finds that supplier or company, she can be a very loyal customer.”
